Article summary

Overview

A new user can create an Account while logging in if the platform has been configured to allow users to self-register. To self-register an Account, the user clicks a link on the login screen, and the Register New Account pop up opens. The user can enter the username in the Form of an email address and a password for the Account, as well as other contact information. This Account can access the Portal immediately, but will have limited permissions until a member of the administrators group changes the permissions. This example assumes that the platform has been configured to allow a user to self-register. If it has not been configured, the Register link will not display on the login screen. To configure self-registration, navigate to Settings > Portal Settings > Registration Settings.

Example

In this example, a user Account will be created through self-registration. Afterwards, the Portal will be accessed by using the Account.

  1. On the Login screen, click the Register link.

  3. Enter an email address, which is the username for the account, in the E-mail and Confirm E-mail fields.
  4. Enter a password in the Password and Confirm Password fields.
  5. Enter additional contact information.
  6. Select the I agree with Terms of Service checkbox, and click the Register button.
  7. The Portal opens.
A self-registered Account has limited permissions and cannot access most of the Portal's functionality. A member of the Administrators group must configure the permissions associated with this Account to grant this Account access to Folders in the Portal.
