Overview
View Mode is a new enhancement introduced in v9.16 that allows users to open and review a Form without making changes or breaking active user session locks. When one user is editing a Form, other users can still open the same Form in View Mode to review its configuration in real time without interrupting the editing session.
Note:
The Form Designer and Page Designer essentially provide the same functionality in terms of design and View Mode access, offering read-only inspection of layouts, fields, and configurations without affecting ongoing edits.
Key Benefits
- Prevents Lock Conflicts: Eliminates accidental lock overrides when multiple users need to access the same Form.
- Safe, Read-Only Access: Users can view all Form details without the risk of making unintended changes.
- Improved Collaboration: Stakeholders, reviewers, and non-technical team members can simultaneously explore the logic and configuration of the Form.
- Faster Reviews & Approvals: Reduces bottlenecks by allowing concurrent viewing while editing is in progress.
Accessing View Mode
Users can access Form Designer View Mode in two ways:
- User Action on Form: Right-click on any Form and select Open in View Mode.

- Lock Entity Dialog: A Form can be opened in View Mode when it is locked by an active user session (i.e., another user currently has it open for editing). When a user opens the Form Designer, a locked Form icon appears to indicate its status. Clicking on a locked Form will display a prompt with a newly added option to Open the Form in View Mode.

- Once opened in View Mode, users will see the Form Designer in View Mode with a label indicator at the top left stating that the Form is opened in View Mode.

Capabilities and Restrictions in View Mode
Users cannot perform the following actions in View Mode:
- Save or create a checkpoint
- Cut, copy, paste, add, delete, or move the position of controls
- Update any properties or configurations
- Refresh the health score
- Ignore or unignore validations
Although View Mode is read-only, users can still:
- Open the Properties Panel to view the configuration data of the Form and Controls
- Open Additional dialogs from the properties panel to view configurations, e.g., Active Form Flows
- Copy text from the Properties Panel or other areas (all text is selectable)
