Article Summary

Overview

The User Portal is the location where projects and designated items can be viewed and utilized by an End User. While similar to the Designer Studio, Designer Elements such as Flows, Forms, and Rules are added to the Portal at the Administrator's discretion via specific Permissions on platform accounts for designated elements. For example, an end user logged into the Portal does not have access to the Designer Studio where the workflows are built-in Decisions.

For further information on Portal Permissions, see User Portal Permissions.

For more information on the Designer Studio, see Introduction to the Designer Studio.

Navigating Between Portal and Studio

In v7.3+, to navigate between the Studio and Portal, click either Go To Portal or Go To Studio from atop the Folder Tree.

In v7.5+, to switch between the Studio and Portal, click either Switch To Portal or Switch To Studio from the top of the Folder Tree over the Inbox.

Global Action Bar

From the Global Action Bar, select the Account icon (denoted by a person icon) to show the current user's email and their Timezone. Doing so also brings up the Account Actions menu where features such as My Account, About Decisions, and Logout are located.

For further information regarding the Account Actions menu, see the respective section below.

The Notification icon (bell) is the location where notifications appear; this feature is often utilized with Tasks and Assignments

In Version 7, the Search Bar has since been moved from the Folder Tree to the Global Action Bar. Breadcrumbs are also seen within the Global Action Bar, these breadcrumbs are clickable to navigate throughout the parent Folders.

The different Page Views will be listed under the Search Bar. The pin is available to pin this bar to the top of the browser when scrolling or unpin to hide the bar.

Folder Organization

All Folders are stored/organized on the left side of the screen in a cascading set of categories. This organizational feature is referred to as the Folder Tree. The Folder Tree combines the following out-of-the-box Folders: My Documents, All Assignments, Getting Started, Inbox, and My Apps.
When a Folder is selected, the contents and any other details are displayed on a page in the Portal View. When a Folder or Element is selected in the Portal a list of Actions is displayed on the right side. This View displays Actions that can be taken on the selected Folder or Element as well as all Element details.

Upon logging in, users have access to any Designer Element that has been made available to users in the Portal by the Administrator. From here users may conduct business without giving them access to restricted materials.

Inbox

Users have access to an Inbox where they may be assigned tasks or sent notifications. Users may right-click an item in the Inbox to access the available action menu.

Searching the Portal

To the left of the Notifications icon, is a global OmniSearch Bar for the Decisions environment. As shown in the screenshot below, searching for "Forms" in a Decisions environment returns all of the Designer Elements related to the keyword. To get results from the search, the user must submit the search by pressing the Enter key.
