# Verify File

The **Verify File** step uses the specified public key to determine whether the input file has an authentic digital signature.

### Prerequisites

This step requires the [PGP module](https://documentation.decisions.com/v8/docs/pgp) to be [installed](https://documentation.decisions.com/docs/installing-modules-decisions) before it will be available in the toolbox.

## Common Errors

### Buffer cannot be null

If the Data or Sender Public Key fields are null or empty, the step will cause an error. To correct this, ensure both fields have an appropriate file uploaded or mapped.
