# Insert Document

This Step inserts a specified document. If the chosen document type has an ID property and a value is specified, the property will be used for the new document. Otherwise, the ID property will be updated to contain the new ID after insertion.

### Prerequisites

- Install the [MongoDB](https://documentation.decisions.com/docs/mongodb) Module.
- **For v9 Users:** Add a [Project Dependency](https://documentation.decisions.com/docs/project-dependencies#add-a-project-dependency-or-enable-a-module) once the MongoDB Module is installed.
