# Download File

The Download File step retrieves and downloads a specific file from a user's Google Drive account. This step is essential when needing to access the contents of a file stored in Google Drive and save it to a specified local file path on the system.

### Prerequisites

This step requires the [Google Drive](https://documentation.decisions.com/docs/google-drive-module) module to be [installed](https://documentation.decisions.com/docs/installing-modules-decisions) before it will be available in the toolbox.

## Properties

#### Inputs

| Property | Description | Data Type |

| Credential | The authentication credentials or access token required to authorize and authenticate the operation. | GoogleDriveCredential |
| File ID | Specify the ID of the file to download from Google Drive. **Find the ID**: In Google Drive, locate the file or folder, right-click, and select "Get Link" or "Share". A window will pop up displaying the sharing settings for the file or folder. The link will look something like the following: `https://drive.google.com/file/d/FILE_ID/view` or `https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/FOLDER_ID.`The [Get File List](/step-library/docs/get-file-list-google) and [Get Folder List](/step-library/docs/get-folder-list-google) steps will also return File and Folder IDs. | String |
| Local File Path | Provide the local file path to save the downloaded file on the system. | String |
