Report Designer View Mode

Overview

Report Designer View Mode allows Users to open and review a Report without making changes or breaking active User session locks. When one User is editing a Report, other Users can still open the same Report in View Mode to examine its configuration in real time without interrupting the editing session.

Key Benefits

  • Prevents Lock Conflicts: Eliminates accidental lock overrides when multiple users need to access the same Report.
  • Safe, Read-Only Access: Users can view all Report details without risking unintended changes.
  • Improved Collaboration: Stakeholders, reviewers, and non-technical team members can simultaneously explore the Report's logic and configuration.
  • Faster Reviews & Approvals: Reduces bottlenecks by allowing concurrent viewing while editing is in progress.

Accessing View Mode

  1. User action on the Report (added in v9.15): Right-click on any of the Report > Open in View Mode.
  2. Lock Entity Dialog: A Report can be opened in View Mode when it is locked by an active user session (i.e., another user currently has it open for editing). When a Report Designer is opened by a user, a locked Report icon appears to indicate its status. Clicking on a locked Report will display a prompt with a newly added option to Open the Report in View Mode.
  3. Clicking on the action will open the Report Designer View Mode. With a small identifier of View Mode at the Top-left corner.

  • Save the Report or create a Checkpoint
